ARROWAY TEXTURES

Post by sintra »

Hi All,

Recently Frederick has manged to make contact with one of the guys at Arroway Textures, it was originally for the perpurse of asking about the legality of using there free textures, which they in turn agreed was OK.

It was then that they said that for us at KT they would make available 20 textures available in high resolution. Which i'm sure you will all agree is excellent news for us all.

So the question i ask is what kind of materials would everyone like to see ?

Have a look at there website www.arroway.de and see which ones appeal to you the most, then we can let arroway know which one's.

I look forward to hearing your opinions on this one guys

Warm regards to all
Kind regards

Darren

Great news! They have plenty of textures to choose. One of these I hope to see selected for KT
concrete 28 exposed concrete (anthracite, 3x2) or
concrete 25 exposed concrete (gray, 3x2)

I like too one of each category, but I like too that they are oriented to architecture, at the end the most of our users use for architecture, and the most use sketchup ( more oriented to architecture than industrial design or nature)

Que...??? :?
What do you mean, Alex..??
Please elaborate...

On their web-site they have 4 different CDs containing various textures... All of these are available on the web for free in a lower resolution than the original ones, but we're offered 20 of the high res. textures, so please pick your choice... ;)

Indeed, simple and fast way to get something for all is that everyone of us will pick one or two of favourite and post it here. If there are not enough textures picked then some one will fill best looking from categories that have no material selected yet.

i would not be that sure about this ..... i believe that they will provide a downscaled sample to 2000 x 2000 from their high res textures ( that's why they will be still free  )
i would not expect that they will give 20 of their high res textures ......
(i think it will be similar like what they did with Maxwell providing some free textures but non of them with the original high res resolution ..... all have be downscaled to max 2000 x 2000 or similar )

You're partly right, Patrick! ;)

I just re-read the e-mail I received from Gerald Menzel and he wrote the following:
Gerald Menzel wrote:Hi Kim,

We will happily provide you with a couple of higher-res textures (say 20 or so). Just tell us which textures you would like and what resolution you would deem appropriate (e.g. 2000x2000). We will then arrange the download for you.

The tutorial you pointed me to seems to be very good indeed. Will have a closer look at it later...

Regards
Gerald Menzel - Arroway Textures
So... Actually, he asks me/us to request the resolution we deem appropriate, and then he gives an example of 2000x2000, but we can at least try to request a higher resolution... :D Worst thing that can happen will be that he turn our request down and revert with an alternative resolution... But let's at least give it a chance... ;)

Indeed. I would be happy to see if most of those textures where wood both indoor and outdoor, but certainly there is some need for couple nice concrete and tiles.
